Saints march off with a huge win

REIGNING premiers Sawtell/Toormina has picked up where it left off with a ruthless win over Nambucca Valley at Richardson Park.

The defending premiers got off to a strong start with an eight-goal opening quarter and continued it on into half-time despite the Lions kicking their only goal for the match.

The young stars, Jack Gillingham and Simon Taylor, shone in the contest supplying well to the leading goalkicker over the past two years in Ben Hooke.

Les Cohen and Mark Couzens were again a strong presence with the Saints having more avenues to goal than the Lions.

Ray McGrath tried valiantly for the visitors in what eventually proved to be a lead-up for the Saints’ clash with the impressive Kangaroos this weekend.
