Saints and Breakers score big points in AFL North Coast wins

AWAY teams ruled the roost in a round of big AFL North Coast scorelines.

Coffs Harbour coasted to a 106 point win over Grafton at Ellem Oval kicking 19 majors to three.

Around The Traps columnist Rod 'Rocket' Macpherson notes the Breakers have become a more rounded side since tall utility forward Fraser Duryea returned against Port Macquarie on May 23 injecting much needed height and class.

"The club still has a couple of reluctant big names on the sidelines and should they return, all of a sudden Breakers' premiership prospects look a whole lot more attractive," he said.

Sawtell-Toormina made the trip to the Hastings and had two many aces up their sleeves for Port Macquarie with that club caught up in a mid-season form slump.

With the Saints only now starting to get regular matches, they should have been met with more pressure from Port but the Magpies could only get major points from two kicks in the entire match.

The home club was shocked early in the day when Magpie legend John Stangherlin suffered a badly broken leg in the reserve grade game.

John underwent surgery on Saturday night and friends and family report he is doing fine.
