Safety urged for private burns
A BUSHFIRE at Bonville kept emergency crews flat strap yesterday.
The blaze, in difficult terrain off Cassidys Road, escaped from a private hazard reduction burn just before 1pm, Rural Fire Service spokesman Anthony Clark said.
Four tankers were at the firefront yesterday afternoon, and crews were undertaking backburning to contain the blaze.
“No houses are under threat,” Mr Clark said.
“But the important message is if you are doing a private burn, do it safely.”
