Runners end social series for Shawn

Running: The final run on the Shawn's Summer Social Series was held in very damp but marginally cooler conditions.

Race directors Jim Ford and Alana Ford are to be congratulated on their magnificent efforts in co-ordinating the events from late October 2018 to the final week prior to the 2019 formal program.

Jim and Alana were presented with well deserved gifts, including a photo calendar of runners at the first 2019 Series run, for their generous efforts throughout the Series.

The series was named in honour of the club's long time treasurer and champion runner, Shawn Claydon, who passed away on August 30. Therefore, it was fitting that his family was also presented with a photo calendar as a memoir of the event.

Shawn's parents, Bonney and John, sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Jeff Stewart-Harris were humbled and grateful to the Mackay Road Runners Club who also loved and valued their son and sibling for his major contribution to the club and its members.

Meanwhile, at the last run of the series, the club's current Male Open Club Champion, Julian Picot, and Junior Male Club Champion, Will Morgan, raced the twelve kilometre event in sensational style ahead of talented runners, Max Scotton, Daniel Scotton, Jose Short, Tim Caddy, Steve Oberg, Kylie Harbour, Simon Henderson, Jo Skinner, Carmel Mahon and Karla Hook.
