Rugby is first sporting casualty forced by North Coast rain
UPDATE 10am Saturday
AFL North Coast have called off all weekend matches due to ground closures.
RUGBY Union is the first sport to face cancellation thanks to the latest patch of wild North Coast weather.
MNC Zone executive officer Bob Wilson announced late today that matches in all grades have been deferred.
The only exception is the second grade match between Bowraville Goannas and Southern Cross University which has been abandoned with points shared as for a draw.
With the closure of BCU International Stadium, the East Coast Dolphins selection trials for under-16s and 18s has been held over for another week, until June 1.
All Group 2 rugby league matches remain on.
However, chief administrator Jim Anderson reports one game may be in doubt but a final decision will be left until 3pm Saturday.
And North Coast Football publicist Terry Allen said earlier today (Friday) that all grounds will be checked for safety with a final announcement due after 7am Saturday.
