Ruckman Bear in winning TAC start

FORMER Coffs Harbour Swans player Daley Bear made his much awaited debut in the AFL’s under-18 TAC Cup competition and it appears he took to the elite age competition like a duck to water.

Playing in a winning team on debut, Bear had an immediate impact as a ruckman for the Northern Knights, which represents Melbourne’s northern suburbs, in their thrilling six-point win over Gippsland Power. Bear gathered some impressive statistics, collecting five marks, seven kicks and seven handballs. He also contributed to the teams’ win with 17 hitouts, three tackles and managed to also kick a goal after receiving a 50-metre penalty.

Western Bulldogs recruiter Wayne McCraw watched the game and was impressed with Bear’s efforts.

“He certainly had an impact in his first game, which is hard to do at this level,” McCraw said.

“His disposals were highly effective and he delivered the ball inside 50 three times as well as kicking a goal himself.”
