Rosie O'Donnell's missing daughter found safe

UPDATE: Rosie O'Donnell's daughter has been found safe and well in New Jersey.

Chelsea O'Donnell, 17, who went missing from their home in Nyack, New York last Tuesday (11.08.15), was located by police just hours after the 53-year-old star issued an appeal on her website, seeking any information about the teenager's whereabouts.

The former 'The View' co-host thanked her fans for their support and assistance on Twitter, writing: "chelsea has been found and is safe in police custody - thank u all for the help and light #missingchildren (sic)"

Chelsea, who is battling mental illness, and her terrier, Bear, were discovered approximately 130 miles for home in Barnegat Light on the Jersey shore.

Law enforcement sources told gossip website TMZ.com that they used a signal from her mobile phone to locate her.

Police began searching for Chelsea and Bear, who is her therapy dog, on Sunday (16.08.15) after Rosie expressed concern that she had stopped taking her medicine and was in need of medical attention.

Chelsea is Rosie's adopted daughter with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter, and the former couple, who split in 2007, have two other children, Blake and Vivienne.

The actress also has adopted daughter, Dakota, two, with estranged wife Michelle Rounds, whom she split from in February, as well as an older son Parker, whom she adopted as an infant in 1995.

EARLIER: ROSIE O'Donnell's teenage daughter has been reported missing.

The 53-year-old star has issued an appeal on her website, seeking any information about the whereabouts of Chelsea O'Donnell, 17, who is battling mental illness and was last seen near their home in Nyack, New York last Tuesday.

A statement on the former 'The View' host's site reads: "Rosie O'Donnell's 17-year-old daughter, Chelsea O'Donnell was reported missing. Nyack, New York police authorities have been looking for her in the Rockland County area since Sunday, August 16. She was last seen Tuesday, August 11. She was wearing a black sweatshirt hoodie, dark ripped blue jeans, women's grey converse sneakers and a black backpack. Chelsea has a large tattoo on her right side of a dream catcher with the word 'Breathe.' She left home with her six-month-old therapy dog named Bear. The dog is a nine pounds brown and black terrier. Chelsea stopped taking her medicine and is in need of medical attention. Any information please contact authorities at 845-358-0206 or 911."

A spokesperson for her mother also told gossip website TMZ.com: "Chelsea, like millions of people, lives with mental illness. It has been a difficult road for Chelsea and her family and they just want her back safe."

Rosie has posted a number of pictures of Chelsea on her social media sites and begged her via Twitter to call home yesterday, writing: "dude was asking for u today ... dude #urFAMILY #call (sic)"
