Rose dynasty is still growing
KATHLEEN Rose could be forgiven for missing the odd anniversary or forgetting one of her direct descendant’s birthdays.
She does after all have enough of them to field a couple of cricket teams, with a few left over for drinks duty.
The arrival on March 31 of the Toormina super-granny’s 50th direct descendant was yesterday the cause for a family gathering where girl power was celebrated front and centre.
Two-week-old Sophie Mia Ralph is the third addition to the fifth generation of a female dynasty which can be directly linked – woman to woman – to Mrs Rose.
Even more remarkably each female link in the chain lives locally at Bonville or Boambee.
“Nana Rose’s first great great grand daughters, Kaitlyn and Lily White-Gregor, were born in 2008 and last year,” Mrs Rose’s grand daughter, Lorraine White, said.
“And while they are special Sophie is her 50th direct descendent.
"It is quite an achievement when you think about it.”
For the record Mrs Rose, who turned 96 earlier this year, has six children, 19 grand children, 22 great grand children and three great great grand children.
