Rolling down the river to Bello fest

CRY Me a River, Moon River, Bridge Over Troubled Waters - there are so many songs inspired by rivers.

The beautiful Bellinger River has also inspired a one-off concert called River Songs, which promises to be one of the highlights of the Bello Winter Music festival on Sunday, July 5.

River Songs will feature acts performing at the Bello Winter Music festival, local musicians and invited guest performers.

Join Emily Lubitz (Tinpan Orange), Emma Donovan, Cath Cooper (The Mid North), Sara Tindley, Ash Bell (Starboard Cannons), The Wilson Pickers and many others for a unique afternoon of music exploring river themes.

River Songs is the brainchild of Mary Cannon, who presented the hugely popular Duet Sessions at Bello Winter's summer sister festival, the Mullum Music Festival, where festival artists were paired together for one-off performances.

"The idea for River Songs came late one night while talking with my friend and songwriter Sara Tindley," Mary said.

"The Bellinger River runs through the centre of the Bellinger Valley and the township.

"It influences everything in this uniquely beautiful area and is such a powerful symbol."
