Rocking out all night long

IF you followed the sound of Rock'n'roll you would have made your way through to a room filled with swinging bodies and fast moving feet at the Razzle Dazzle ball.

The annual event held for the first time at the Sawtell RSL in late July was a huge success for rock'n'roll dancers not only from the Coffs region but from the NSW coast and further.

Midnight Drifters performed on the night, keeping dancers in an upbeat rhythm and there were prizes, give-aways, food and drinks to keep everyone happy and entertained.

People travelled from Port Macquarie, Sydney, Brisbane, Gunnedah, Tamworth, Lismore and even from Rockhampton to take part in the night.

The Razzle Dazzle ball has previously been held at a hired hall but owners of Razzle Dazzle dance classes said they couldn't create the same feel as they did at the Sawtell RSL.

As most towns hold an annual social event similar to the Razzle Dazzle ball, the Coffs Coast have never been able to be included in the scene and were delighted after the success of their recent event.

Next year the event will grow as it becomes a two day event filled with workshops and dancing to bands from Brisbane, Gold coast and Sydney.

Razzle Dazzle dancers have been holding classes for the last 14 years.

Classes are held every Wednesday evening at the Sawtell RSL for people wanting to learn the basic steps or increase their dancing skills by taking part in the intermediate or advanced classes.
