Road through Pioneer Park opens to traffic

 

THE Duke St extension opened to traffic this afternoon as a temporary CBD bypass for light vehicles while roadworks are carried out on the Harbour Dr/Gordon St intersection.

Coffs Harbour City Council said it fast-tracked completion of the road to ease traffic congestion in the town centre.

The bypass is still classified as a construction zone and the council advises motorists to follow signage and use caution when navigating the area.

The bypass route will allow southbound motorists to bypass the city centre from Coff St into Gordon St, left into Vernon St and right into Duke St extension before turning left into Harbour Dr.

Northbound motorists will be able to access the temporary Duke St extension from Harbour Dr.

The temporary bypass will close for completion of roadworks when the Harbour Dr/Gordon St intersection is reopened in September.

The completed Duke St extension is expected to open in October.
