Road Racing 30/3/13

The road season started today with good numbers given it was Easter Saturday. A friendly atmosphere soon turned to despair as the course and a handicap was announced. In the end everyone was keen to get some good hard racing and effort into the legs for the season ahead and the Battle on the Border.

The race started at the winery, headed to the southern turn and then up to Mailmans Rd roundabout. A & B grade had 5 laps in front of them with B grade having an 8 minute head start. C grade had a 3 lap scratch race.

A grade broke up early with Kevin Hawes, Nathan Chiswell & Chris Andrews staying together and catching B grade at the bottom of Perrys for the second last time.

Nathan & Kevin were able to get away and it came down to the last time up Perrys, Nathan attacking when it was least expected and he soloed to the line. Vanessa McDonald was the first B grader to finish and 3rd on the day.

C grade mostly stayed together, until the last time up Perrys when Gurmesh's secret training paid off and he got the win.

Thanks to Glenn O'Grady, Stuart Ware and Steve Sloan for doing duties and enabled racing to take place. Hoping to see more people there next week, 1.30pm for 2pm start at Raleigh Winery.
