Riders will hit the trail for Angel Flight charity fundraiser

FOR the tenth year in the a row the Woolooga Old Coach Trail Riders Inc group will be riding for Angel Flight.

The annual 'Ride for Angel Flight' will be on Saturday September 17, 2016 starting at 7.30am from "Turavale” at 3257 Bauple/Woolooga Rd, Woolooga.

The current ride traverses 35 km of very scenic country between Woolooga and the Widgee Sportsground and last year 175 trail riders took part.

The weekend commences on the Friday with free entertainment, catering, a bar and fundraising activities and camping at "Turavale "is free and hot shower and toilets are available.

The Woolooga Old Coach Trail Riders Inc, formed in February 2014, organises the Ride for Angel Flight in September each year and became affiliated with Trail Riding Australia to attract more trail riders to the event.

The group has been conducting the ride since 2007 as a fundraiser for the Angel Flight Organisation and to date has raised approximately $55,000 for Angel Flight.

Organiser said this total is a direct result of the hard work put in by an army of volunteers and helpers.

Even if you aren't a rider, members of the public are welcome to attend the concerts and fundraising events including auctions, multi draw raffles and a main raffle of donated items at Woolooga on the Friday night or at Widgee on the Saturday night.

There is also a Sports Fun Day held at Widgee Sports Ground on Sunday, September 20 which will include camp-drafting, barrel races, teams draft, ironman and woman and novelty events. Meals, bar facilities and live entertainment are available on both nights and during Sunday.

This year's event will be attended by Angel Flight CEO, Marjorie Pagani and Joy Wii, Flight Co-ordinator. Marjory and Joy have expressed an interest in the fundraiser and will attend for the entire weekend.

Riders can obtain registration forms from the website at wooloogaoldcoach rail riders.com or forms will be available on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

Costs are $30.00 per adult and $20.00 for riders under 18 years.

All riders must wear an armband, comply with the ride rules and complete horse health declaration information and Trail Riders Australia waiver forms.

Children under 18 years old must wear a helmet and Trail Riding Australia Inc recommends that all adult riders also wear a helmet, however if you choose not to wear a helmet you ride at your own risk.

Also, no dogs or stallions are permitted on this ride.

The Woolooga Old Coach Trail Riders Inc group intends to hold shorter one day rides once they are established with a few more members.
