Rider allegedly caught doing 248km/h, with blood alcohol .06

A MOTORCYCLIST charged with high-end speeding and drink driving was allegedly clocked doing almost 250km per hour while having a blood alcohol concentration of 0.06 per cent.

Police charged the 26-year-old man on Tuesday afternoon after POLAIR tracked his motorcycle on the Centenary Highway at Springfield Lakes near Ipswich on Sunday night.

Around 9.30pm the male rider was recorded travelling on the highway between Progress Road at Richlands and Springfield Lakes Boulevard at Springfield Lakes, allegedly reaching a speed of 248km per hour.

A short time later, Springfield Police caught up with the man's  and conducted a breath alcohol test where the man allegedly returned a concentration of 0.06 per cent.

He is expected to appear in court at a later date.
