COUNCIL TICK: The water fun park at Oaks Oasis Resort at Caloundra can finally open to the public.

Resort water park open to all, at last

A CALOUNDRA resort's water park is now legally allowed to open to the public.

The Oaks Group opened its popular park with tunnels and big buckets in the grounds of its Oasis Resort in December 2013.

While it was open to the public for an entry fee, it was supposed to be available for resort guests only.

Caloundra councillor Tim Dywer said neighbours had complained about the noise from the water park and the fact resort guests were not the only ones using it.

Cr Dwyer was not sure how long it was operating outside the guidelines.

"When we heard about it, we gave temporary approvals so they could put in a proper application," he explained.

Councillors unanimously approved the park become open to everyone when they met last week.

The Oaks Group will be required to build an "acoustic barrier".

The company did not respond to the Daily's questions on the matter.
