Media rides shotgun
REPORTERS from national media outlets have ridden shotgun with the Coffs Coast’s own rising rally star Nathan Quinn in a pre-rally promotion money can’t buy.
Journalists from the Daily Telegraph, Australian Financial Review and Sydney Morning Herald got their front seat rally experience today, as the finale to a week-long tourism familiarisation (famil) around the region.
“That was my first time in a rally car and wow what an amazing ride, sliding into corners at speed, terrifying at first, but overall a great experience,” Destination NSW’s Lauren Zomeff said.
“The international exposure the World Rally Championships will bring to this region is unprecedented from a tourism sense.”
Guiding the group on a regional adventure tour from the Nambucca and Bellinger valleys to Coffs Harbour was the city council’s tourism manager Glenn Caldwell.
“While the rally has been the catalyst of the famil, it’s been a genuine promotion of the Coffs Coast, which hopefully reaches holidaying audiences around the country,” Mr Caldwell said.
From tearing up the tracks at Bucca, skydiving and wining and dining in luxury accommodation, editorial coverage of the famil should take the Coffs Coast to the pages of the metropolitan press in coming days.
