Renowned pianist returns to Coffs

GlOBE-TROTTING ‘fusion' pianist Joe Chindamo is returning to the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery for a special, one-off appearance.

“Joe wowed a large and appreciative audience at the Gallery last year as part of the EMSLA Festival,” said gallery director Dr Leigh Summers.

“He has just returned from a European tour and his only performance in Coffs Harbour will be at this Friends of Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery fundraising event on August 20.

“We're very lucky to have this opportunity.

“Among his many performances, he has featured at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, the Tokyo Dome, the Lincoln Centre in New York and, of course, at the Sydney Opera House.

“Joe has won numerous awards as a jazz pianist, written and performed several award-winning film scores and released several outstanding CDs.

“In addition, he has accompanied many renowned vocalists such as opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and a number of significant jazz instrumentalists.

“Joe plays across genres – bending, if not breaking, the rules. His classical training is infused with jazz and blues.

“Joe's style is superb and he is renowned for switching and seamlessly blending a vast range of music styles in ways that are imaginative and deeply musical. He's a very exciting performer.”

Tickets, including refreshments, $30 adult, $25 Friends, conc. from the Gallery or phone 6648 4863.
