Renovations are under way

THE Seaview Tavern is set to become one of hottest tickets in town, with plans to upgrade the entire hotel under way.

By mid-2009, the tavern is expected to have completed a multi-million-dollar renovation that will bring it into the 21st century.

There are five separate aspects to the upgrade, and things have kicked off with the upstairs room under construction to become a new function room, complete with balcony, capable of catering for small functions of 40 to 50 people right through to larger groups of 250 to 300 people. It will also be used as an extension of the bistro.

That project is expected to be finished by the end of November, right in time for Christmas functions.

Then, beginning in February 2009, the bottleshop will undergo an extensive transformation, as will the bistro - effectively tripling its size.

The beer garden will be fully upgraded, as will the bar area.

Hotel manager Harry Barry and managing director Ric Gianoli were quick to point out that the tavern will still be the same friendly, family owned pub.

“What we're focussed on is enhancing what Bruce Wilson started,” Mr Barry said.
