Remediation work at slipway progresses

REMEDIATION of the slipway is planned to be completed in coming weeks according to Minister for Primary Industries Niall Blair.

In a statement, the Minister's office also said the completion of works for a temporary crane-out facility is expected by the end of September.

The request for proposals process surrounding a boat maintenance facility is ongoing.

The slipway was scheduled to be completed at the end of the month.

Weather events such as the east coast low earlier this month have contributed to delays.

One local fisherman wants to see the slipway prioritised and siad too much money being allocated to other projects.

"The money they're wasting on northwall, and marina, the jetty foreshores stuff - not doing enough for the slipway," he said.

"Money wasted all around us but the main stuff's not going ahead."
