Bellingen relay raises $37,000

URUNGA hosted Bellingen Shire's annual Relay for Life event over the weekend, with an impressive 31 teams raising more than $37,000 for cancer research, education and patient support.

One of the event's organisers, Michaela Slater, said the figure was an initial estimate and the final total could be even higher.

She said everyone was well behaved, there had a been great line-up of entertainers; the weather was 'fantastic' and the event went off really well. Local singers, choirs and bands entertained the relay walkers and SES and Lions Club members manned the barbecue and provided breakfast with the help of a mobile caterer and coffee van.
