Rehab unit should be ready soon

WORK is proceeding slowly on Sherwood Glen, the rehabilitation centre for women being constructed by Sherwood Cliffs Christian-based rehabilitation farm at Glenreagh.

Sherwood Cliff’s manager Jean-Pierre Reifler said they hoped to have two houses and two cabins completed and be able to accept the first women at Sherwood Glen later this year.

“We are using it as training for our guys at Sherwood and they enjoy it, so it serves a double purpose,” Mr Reifler said.

Residents undertaking rehabilitation at Sherwood Cliffs, known as seekers, work on the farm and on building projects as part of their recovery process

Mains power is not available for the isolated site, which had been planned as a solar-powered facility, but those plans were thrown into disarray by the abrupt closure of the rural solar power rebate last year.

Mr Reifler said they still had to install kitchen fit-outs and get solar power and gas systems in place.
