Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner wants to see NSW becoming more competitive in the areas of trade and investment.

Top priorities for NSW

INCREASING NSW’s competitiveness with the other states is something Andrew Stoner would dearly like to achieve.

As the newly appointed Deputy Premier and the Minister for Trade, Investment and Regional Infrastructure, Mr Stoner said NSW was lagging behind the other states when it came to trade and investment.

“I want to take the fight up to them,” Mr Stoner said.

“From fulfilling the food security needs of other countries to growing regional tourism, Country NSW has much to gain from a renewed focus on trade and investment.”

Directing his comments to the Coffs Coast region, he said strengthening investment and trade would bring benefits to places like Coffs Harbour in the form of infrastructure and services.

“The NSW Liberals and Nationals Government will be investing $3.5 million to upgrade the Oxley Highway and as Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Services I will be a strong advocate for the Pacific Highway.”

He said the pressing needs of the road network in NSW meant having a full-time roads minister was vital.

“Given my new duties, the portfolio of roads ministry has been given to Duncan Gay, who will be carrying out our practical plans to fix the roads across the state.”

With regard to the Pacific Highway upgrade, Mr Stoner said the Federal Government was working towards completion by 2016 and the State Government would be working to help them meet that deadline.

He said he appreciated the trust the people of Oxley had placed in him and looked forward to their continuing support as he served them as Deputy Premier.
