Reggae with a soft twist

KINDLING is an awesome example of what Aussie music does best - take multiple styles and moods and blend them into something unique.

Led by singer and trumpeter Peter Hunt, along with bassist Tom Kinchliffe and guitarist Conan Griffiths, Kindling takes Peter's cruisy vocals and lightly adds African, jazz and reggae influences.

The result is a kind of funky folk music: the whole thing sounds dimly lit, with a hint of a hipshake, and Peter's vocals sound like they're being crooned softly right into your ear.

Kindling was born from prominent Afro-reggae outfit Kooii - members started jamming acoustic versions of the songs, and found a whole new vibe.

The smaller group allows for a more creative interpretation of reggae delivered in more diverse and intimate settings.

The whole thing is soft and light and really, really groovy. Combined with old world glamour of the Bellingen Memorial Hall, take a date to this gig today - because these tunes are a good-night guarantee.
