‘Refugees’ illegal

WHAT is it about news reporting that all news services refer to illegal immigrants as refugees?

I find it very offensive to hear all news people refer to these people in this way; they have come across our border illegally and their actions should be treated as an illegal act, not shrouded in some emotional rhetoric that the word refugee brings.

There are thousands of people who do not have the financial resources, stuck in refugee camps because they genuinely do not have the financial resources to pay people smugglers to illegally cross our border, and yet this government allows this trade to flourish.

One hundred people on one leaky boat equals roughly $1 million less costs; a tidy profit to the smugglers from people who have money to jump the immigration queue.

Are our news services afraid of something? What is the problem in calling a spade a spade? The softly softly approach gets my back up.

A refugee is a refugee; an illegal immigrant is just that, illegal.
