Ready for the ultimate dust-up

REX Madigan is the epitome of Rally Australia fever now gripping the Coffs Coast.

He’s been rapt ever since we secured the rights to the championships and with all the banners now going up around town, the preparations for September 8-11 have hit full throttle.

“Being an ex-oil company executive I think it’s a great idea,” Mr Madigan said.

“It’s going to drag in tourist dollars hopefully and will be a bit of excitement for the town.

“I will make sure I see a couple of the stages. I’m used to V8 supercars and top fuel drag cars and because I have a motorsport background I know exactly what it’s all about.

“I think it’s a great idea. Well done for whoever got it here.”

Rally Australia-Coffs Coast is expected to deliver a direct economic impact of about $17 million to the local economy and promote the region to an international television audience of 53 million.
