Ray delivers relief to drought-hit Walgett

THE generosity of Coffs Coast residents who are eager to support drought-stricken families out west will see truckloads of food delivered out Walgett way.

Off his own bat, Ray Huxley, of Moonee Beach, recently organised the Food for Walgett appeal to support farmers and their families who are doing it tough.

"I would like to call on the people of Coffs Harbour for help in raising cash donations," Mr Huxley said.

He has just returned from Walgett, where his own $1500 cash donation purchased a whole stack of food that was greatly received by the community.

"There was enough food for five families to last a month," he said.

"I will deliver another $1500 in food on my next return trip."
