Police grill driver over 'burn-out'

A DRIVER linked to an overseas rally team has been spoken to by police over a burn-out.

Police spoke to the driver after he was allegedly seen to do a burnout on Bucca Road, north of Coffs Harbour, on Thursday morning.

The incident happened during Rally Australia's 'shakedown', a pre-event to tonight's opening competition stage.

Sources say the driver told police he was merely warming up his tyres.

Police are expected to release more details this afternoon.

Rally Australia organisers are aware of the incident.
