Raiders win some, lose some for Tigers clash

CANBERRA'S good fortune at the judiciary has been soured by injuries to English international Josh Hodgson and rugged forward Sia Soliola, with the pair ruled out of this weekend's crucial clash with the Wests Tigers.

Soliola (pictured) fractured his cheekbone early in the second half of Saturday's loss to the Cowboys in Townsville, and won't play again this year, while Hodgson, who has been one of Canberra's best this season, is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks with an ankle injury.

The 10th-placed Raiders received some good news from the match review committee, however, with key playmaker Blake Austin able to play against the Tigers provided he takes an early guilty plea to a grade one lifting charge. His teammate Edrick Lee will miss the game after being charged with tripping Cowboys back Justin O'Neill.

Bulldogs forward Greg Eastwood is the only other player set to miss a game after he was charged with dangerous contact for a hit on Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce.

The grade one charge would not normally have resulted in a suspension, but Eastwood's 73 carryover points meant he would miss Friday night's blockbuster against the Broncos in Brisbane unless he was able to beat the charge at the NRL judiciary.

Meanwhile the Gold Coast Titans are expected to announce today they have beaten Manly to the signature of highly-rated young Brisbane U20s halfback Ashley Taylor.
