Radford on target for Queensland title

IT WAS a week of local shooting achievements for both young and old.

Champion 74 year old shooter John Radford has taken home the IRB Rim fire Queensland Title.

The 2012 Australian champion made the trek to Innisfail in North Queensland to compete in the event battling gale force winds and rain.

"It was the worst conditions I have ever shot in," Radford said.

"It was a tough field and to score so well despite the weather was a great feeling."

Radford backed up to defend his Australian title at the same range however fatigue from four tough days of competition took its toll and he finished eighth.

Locally it was a 21st birthday with a difference for Luke Fieldhouse.

Despite living with Cerebral Palsy and confined to a wheelchair, Fieldhouse took his interest for military to another level at the Coffs SSAA shooting range.

Local shooter Beau Rosewood teamed up to help make it a birthday experience to remember.

"It was an awesome opportunity," Fieldhouse said.
