TWO weeks after switching from Coffs Harbour to try his luck in the big smoke, jockey Jamie Quinnell has had his first Sydney winner for new boss Kevin Moses.
While under the tutelage of Brett Bellamy, Quinnell claimed the unique double of the senior and junior riding premierships in the Northern Rivers Racing Association for the 2007-08 season.
The 19-year-old apprentice had two rides for the Moses stable at Saturday's Randwick meeting and after finishing back in the pack on Lieserl earlier in the afternoon saved his best for the last race of the day.
Quinnell showed keen judgement to hold Causeyacan for the last shot at the line and brought the gelding home for an easy win. With a 3kg city claim, the victory should ensure the jockey is in hot demand during the summer months.
