Qld Racing boss given brief reprieve to save his skin

THE Queensland racing board CEO under fire over live baiting in the greyhound racing industry has been given more time to prove why he should keep his job.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk abolished all state racing boards when the live baiting inquiry report was submitted to parliament last week.

During parliament Ms Palaszczuk also announced Racing Queensland CEO Darren Condon would be stood down and given a five day show-cause notice.

Racing Minister Bill Byrne's office released a statement on Tuesday saying Mr Condon had received an extension until June 17.

"Mr Condon's lawyers requested an extension to the show-cause period on Friday and this extension has been granted," the statement said.

"In complex matters like this, it's not unusual for extensions to be granted.

"This ensures Mr Condon has appropriate time to put his case forward before a final decision is made."
