Qld food and wine on show

ENTHUSIASTIC gourmands are invited to enjoy a taste of Queensland at the Good Food & Wine Show which opens today (Saturday 6 November) at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Minister for Primary Industries, Fisheries and Rural and Regional Queensland Tim Mulherin said the Queensland Government display at the show would host 26 food and wine exhibitors from 10 different regions of the State.

"There will be a mouth-watering range of products to sample and buy so it is a great way to discover and support local industry," Mr Mulherin said.

"Many people will be excited to hear that Ballandean winery Golden Grove Estate will have its wines available on the Queensland Government stand.

"Golden Grove was the star of last month's prestigious Australian Small Winemakers Show.

"They were named Champion Small Winery of Show, beating contenders from throughout Australia and New Zealand. Golden Grove also won the Most Successful Queensland Exhibitor Trophy and the Technical Excellence Award, as well as five gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

"At the same show, Ballandean Estate Wines won a gold medal for its 2007 Generation 3 Shiraz, and they too are participating in the Good Food & Wine Show."

Mr Mulherin said 15 Queensland wineries would be showcased on the Government stand along with nine gourmet food producers and two regional organisations.

"There will be delicious cheeses, dips, antipasto, cakes, chocolates, nuts, sauces and much more to enjoy," Mr Mulherin said.

"Kingaroy Cheese will be there, as will Maleny Cuisine and The Bramble Patch - a Granite Belt-based company which has won gold medals for its preserves at 2010 Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart Fine Food Awards.

"The Granite Belt Wine and Tourism organisation will take the opportunity to promote its Strange Bird alternative wine and Nude Food trails.

"For the first time, the stand w ill also feature a range of TNQ food producers and manufacturers, exhibiting under the TNQ "Taste Paradise" brand."

The Good Food & Wine Show runs for three days from 5-7 November at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. For entry fees and more information, visit www.goodfoodshow.com.au
