Pub crawl lands driver in trouble

A DRUNK driver, caught travelling on the incorrect side of the road in Coffs Harbour early yesterday, allegedly told police he got behind the wheel after an 11-hour pub crawl.

When breath tested the 26-year-old Moonee Beach man returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.205 – five times over the legal limit.

Police say the man was seen by police to drive on the wrong side of the road along Harbour Drive about 12.45am yesterday.

Officers stopped the Toyota Hilux and said the man appeared to be heavily affected by alcohol.

He was submitted to a roadside breath test and conveyed to Coffs Harbour Police Station.

During questioning, the man allegedly told police he had been drinking at three local hotels between 3.30pm and 12.30am.

The man’s licence was suspended and he has been issued with a court appearance notice to front Coffs Harbour Local Court next month.
