Property fire was suspect

POLICE are treating as suspicious a fire at the property of a man charged with a teenager's murder on the Mid North Coast.

Mitchell Anthony Winefield, 43, was last week charged with the stabbing murder of Caleb Jarrett, 18.

Just after 3am yesterday, emergency services were called to Winefield's address in Mann Street, Nambucca Heads, where a fire had broken out in a shed next to the home. Police said although the shed burnt down, the home was moderately damaged.

They said they regarded the fire as suspicious, but could not say whether it was linked to Jarrett's death.
