The Project host pulls off surprise proposal for fans

A SURPRISE engagement on The Project left the panel in tears of joy on Thursday night.

Following Carrie Bickmore's weekly wrap-up of "good news", the host pointed out an "awesome couple" who were sitting in the studio audience.

"Sonny and Candice have been married and divorced, but they are still the best of friends," Bickmore said. "They even started dating again and earlier this year they bought a house together, proving that true love never dies"

And in a video clip that played, Candice had a special message for Sonny.

"I love you and I would like to ask you to marry me and be my soulmate until the end of time," she said.

Back in the audience, all eyes were on Sonny for his answer. And it was yes.

As the emotional couple kissed, the panellists on The Project desk welled up.

"All the best, we hope you have a long and happy life together," Bickmore said.
