KIIS FM prankster Intern Pete blew his million-dollar moment with Prince Harry after the royal stopped to speak to him in a meet and greet line up.

He could've asked him about his superstar girlfriend Meghan Markle but Pete Deppelerhas decided to instead attempt to play the game "The Floor is Lava" in the torrential rain.

"I'm drenched - but the good thing is we're all drenched," Prince Harry is heard telling waiting fans next to a saturated NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

Intern Pete interrupts yelling: "Hey Harry! Harry! The floor is lava."

"Five, four, three, two, one - he doesn't get the joke!" he continued to a baffled-looking Prince Harry.

For those who are unaware of the game, if the phrase, "the floor is lava" is called out, a person has five seconds to get their feet off the ground.

Boom tish.

The KIIS FM team, including radio host Jackie O, have been playing the game in the office this week with video showing a number of the staff jumping up on tables before the countdown.

"And he's a friend of yours," Prince Harry joked to Berejiklian after Intern Pete's cringeworthy attempt to play the game.

But it didn't stop there.

"Harry should I try again," Intern Pete continued to shout.

"The floor is lava! The floor is lava! Five, four, three, two, one."

"No, no, definitely not going to work."
