Prince Charles and Camilla head west

SCIENCE and literacy were the perfect distractions for Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, as they continued their tour of Australia on Sunday.

Prince Charles officially opened the WA's State Buildings and his wife spent time at the State Library of WA where she took part in a literacy program for culturally and linguistically diverse parents or carers and their children.

The Duchess also met Aboriginal people involved in a program that preserves culture and community links.

Prince Charles took some time out to visit Kings Park where he heard about scientific research projects conserving the state's threatened flora and fauna.

The local community turned out in force to farewell the couple at the Flame of Remembrance in Kings Park.
