Predator tries to lure boy, 9

A PREDATOR is on the prowl on the Coffs Coast.

The man apparently tried to lure a boy into his car at Coramba on Sunday afternoon and the hunt is now on to capture him before he strikes again.

The nine-year-old was riding his pushbike on the footpath in Gale Street at 4.30pm when the man approached him.

He pulled up in his car and asked the youngster to climb in, police said.

However, the brave and quick-thinking boy instead rode home and told his mother about the disturbing incident.

She then contacted triple-0 and police rushed to the area to search for the man, who could not be found.

The boy managed to provide police with a good description of the offender.

He is estimated to be aged about 50 with a white goatee beard and was wearing a red and white shirt at the time.

A shocked bystander told police the car may have been a silver four-wheel-drive and perhaps a Honda, but was unable to provide a registration number.

If you saw the man fitting this description or if you have any other information, you are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Coffs Harbour police on 6652 0299.
