Pre-teen wins motorkhana
SPECTATORS at the last Coffs Motorkhana were stunned that the driver stepping out of the winning vehicle was so fresh-faced.
Glenn Bedford is just 12-years-of-age and is already building a reputation in motor sport. It's Glenn's first year at Motorkhana events but he started getting experience when he began in go karts from the age of seven.
Many of the biggest names, including former world champion formula-one ace, Alan Jones, stated in exactly the same fashion and Glenn has now moved into his own 1983 Toyota Corolla.
This is giving him valuable driving experience in throttle and brake control, steering and judgement and equally important, driving to the conditions.
“I joined the Coffs Harbour and District Sporting Car Club at the beginning of the year and now I'm looking forward to future events,” Glenn said. He is closely watched by his parents when driving the car and they are very proud of the progress he has made this year.
Glenn has followed motor sport for as long as he can remember and is a keen supporter of V8 supercar driver, Craig Lowndes.
More recently, Glenn has developed a strong interest in rally sport and he'll be a spectator at the Daikin-Allied Air Conditioning Coffs Coast Rally next month, dreaming of the day he's out there in the thick of the action behind the wheel.
