Powerline upgrade worth $2.5m

COUNTRY Energy is investing $2.5 million to upgrade the powerlines that feed in and out of the upgraded North Coffs Harbour zone substation, securing the power supply to the area.

As part of the upgrade, crews will install around 5.5 kilometres of underground powerlines and remove 1.5km overhead powerlines, increasing the capacity for growth in the north of Coffs Harbour right through to Moonee Beach, as well as providing a reliable back-up power supply for Woolgoolga.

Regional general manager Mid North Coast, Brian Mclean, said crews would drill underneath roadways and watercourses to install the new underground powerlines without negatively affecting the surrounding environment by digging up roads or waterways.

“We’re extremely conscious of caring for the environment,” Mr Mclean said.
