Pop-up store given sporting chance
THE people of Kingaroy have a new place to shop for their sports gear.
Sportfirst Kingaroy has opened a pop up shop at Kingaroy Shoppingworld, in addition to their store on Alford St.
Shop owner Cathy Goodhew has embraced the opportunity, put forward to her by centre management, to have a store in the centre.
"It is a good opportunity because the traffic flow is a lot more than being on the street,” she said.
"I am hoping it will give people more awareness that we are here. Some people don't shop outside the shopping centre and I think it is nice for them to step out and see what not just us, but all the small businesses in the street, have to offer.”
Sportfirst will be at the shopping centre until the first week of February and Ms Goodhew is hoping to capitalise on the back to school shopping rush.
"I think it is a good opportunity now that Mathers is shut because we sell a lot of footwear and we can introduce people to other brands that are available,” she said.
As well as being beneficial to business with an additional shop, Ms Goodhew has been able to add to her staff.
"It has given us the opportunity to give more people a job and there are a lot of benefits to having another store, it is not just about making money, it is about being able to service people a lot better,” she said.
"The feedback that we have had from the public has been great and everyone has been very supportive.”
