Editorial - March 26: Pollies, thanks for the memories
OF COURSE, the PM is not calling what's happening in Canberra a campaign, but he appears to be doing the hard sell after vowing there would be a double dissolution poll if his attempt to resurrect the Australian Building and Construction Commission fails.
Part of that hard sell is borrowing a slogan from popular American political satire series Veep.
The show follows former Seinfeld star Julia Louis- Dreyfus, who campaigns for the US presidency using the theme "Continuity with Change".
I like it, Mal. "Continuity with change" has a nice ring to it and it's already out there in the social media universe.
In the meantime, have no doubt the PM, his former boss Tony Abbott, his mortal enemy Bill Shorten, and the rest of the federal MPs will be on the charm offensive from … well, like a week ago.
You know what would make the next 15 weeks fun? A little dose of Donald "how does my toupee look?" Trump.
He does make for some funny memes. #We shall over comb Trump, #Trust me, politicians are corrupt, I bribe every one I meet, #Deport the illegals. Every last Juan, #I believe in traditional marriage - I've had three of them, #Mess with the United States and there'll be hell toupee.
