Police still to interview driver

POLICE were yesterday still to interview a driver from a smash which claimed the life of Dorrigo’s Carol Miller.

Ms Miller, 31, who was engaged, was killed as she reversed her maroon Hyundai Excel into a parking spot in Dorrigo’s town centre shortly before midnight on Saturday. Police believe her vehicle was almost stationary or had come to a stop when it was hit from behind by a Nissan Skyline, driven by a local man, 23.

He sustained chest injuries and was taken to Coffs Harbour hospital.

Some reports allege the man was doing burnouts around the town before the accident.

According to eye-witnesses, the impact of the collision forced the rear half of the hatchback into the front of the vehicle.

A report for the corner will state Ms Miller died from her injuries before paramedics could free her from her wreckage.

As emergency services rushed to the aid of both drivers, patrons at the nearby Heritage Hotel spilled out on to the street, many of them knowing the occupants of both vehicles.
