CCTV footage of a vicious attack on a 7-Eleven store clerk was released by Tweed police.

The dramatic footage shows the store clerk being threaten with large knives while being forced to open the store's cash register.

Tweed's crime manager Brendon Cullen said police were following up a number of leads.

"It's a current investigation and we're certainly looking into a number of avenues," he said.

Insp Cullen also confirmed NSW police had been in touch with Queensland detectives after a similar style break in at Nerang overnight.

The criminals in that matter used a pipe instead of knives to threaten a man.

About 3.20am on Thursday the 7-Eleven on Minjungbal Dr was robbed by two men.

If you recognise these men please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
