Police look into claims Amanda Bynes was sexually harassed

POLICE are investigating Amanda Bynes' claims that she was "sexually harassed" by an arresting officer on Thursday night.

Internal Affairs are looking into the serious allegations made by the 'Easy A' star, who was charged with attempted evidence tampering, reckless endangerment and marijuana possession in court on Friday, after being arrested at her New York City apartment.

A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department (NYPD) announced they are looking into the situation further after the troubled starlet accused an officer of entering her apartment illegally, slapping her vagina and lying about her throwing a bong out the window in front of him.

NYPD chief spokesman Paul Browne confirmed the Internal Affairs Bureau (IAB) is investigating and told gossip website TMZ.com: "As it would with any such allegation, regardless of its credibility, IAB is investigating it."

The 27-year-old actress made the allegations in a lengthy rant on Twitter on Saturday, writing: "Don't believe the reports about me being arrested. It's all lies. I was sexually harassed by one of the cops the night before last which is who then arrested me. He lied and said I threw a bong out the window when I opened the window for fresh air. Hilarious. He slapped my vagina. Sexual harassment. Big deal. I then called the cops on him. He handcuffed me, which I resisted, quite unlike any of the reports stated.

"Then I was sent to a mental hospital. Offensive. I kept asking for my lawyer but they wouldn't let me. The cops were creepy. The cop sexually harassed me, they found no pot on me or bong outside my window. That's why the judge let me go. Don't believe any reports."

Amanda's parents Lynn and Rick are reportedly worried she is bipolar or schizophrenic but cannot force her to undergo a mental evaluation.
