Police probe bashings

TWO young men have been bashed and robbed in separate violent incidents on the Coffs Coast.

The first happened in the Park Beach Plaza car park on Sunday at 2.40am when a baker, 21, was turning up for his shift.

Police said he was approached by four men who demanded his wallet. He was then punched by at least two of them.

He struggled free and ran away, but was tackled to the ground and further assaulted.

The assailants grabbed the man’s wallet and mobile phone and fled into the night.

All are described as Aboriginal in appearance. One had facial hair and was wearing a white hoodie, another had short dark hair and a long-sleeved black top and another had a red/orange hoodie.

Some 15 minutes later at Toormina, an intoxicated man, 24, was walking in Lady Belmore Drive when he told police he was punched from behind.

He fell to the ground and his wallet and mobile phone were taken. Police said he could not provide a description of his attackers.
