Police officer's arm slashed with box cutter

A POLICE officer was allegedly slashed with a box cutter while responding to a violent domestic incident in Bowraville yesterday.

Officers were called to a Carbin St home to investigate a domestic incident, and a break and enter in Maloney St, Bowraville at 5.20pm.

Police said officers then attended a home on Cohalan St, Bowraville to speak with a man, 27.

It is alleged the man produced a box cutter and slashed the right forearm of a male senior constable.

A struggle ensued and the man was arrested after a taser was deployed.

The man was taken to Macksville Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent, detain for advantage, use weapon to avoid apprehension, assault police causing actual bodily harm, and resist arrest.

He was refused bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today.
