Police nab teens for alleged late night thefts

TWO teenage boys who allegedly stole a Mitsubishi Triton dual cab ute from a West Mackay home, have been identified.

Police allege a 13-year-old Blacks Beach boy and a 14-year-old Mackay boy entered the home by opening an unlocked sliding door between 9pm on March 23 and 1.30am on March 24.

Keys found in the house were used to enter and steal the vehicle from where it was parked.

It is also alleged the boys stole personal items including a handbag, a backpack, mobile phones, medication, bank cards, identification and cash – all taken from the same room where three residents were sleeping.

The stolen car was found at Luscombe St, South Mackay at 11.15pm on March 24. It had minor damage.

The teenagers will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act with regards to this incident.
