Police identify young man killed in fiery crash

UPDATE: Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating a single vehicle crash near Goondiwindi overnight.

At 11.35pm a Holden Commodore utility was travelling west on the Barwon Highway near the intersection of Goodar Road.

The vehicle lost control and hit a tree before been engulfed in fire.

A Goondiwindi man in his 20s was the sole occupant of the vehicle and died at the scene.

Investigations are continuing.

EARLIER: POLICE are investigating a fatal car crash near Goondiwindi overnight.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said crews were called to the crash on the Barwon Highway near the Goodar Road intersection just west of Goondiwindi about 11.42 last night.

It is believed the car struck a tree.

Police have not released any further details at this stage but remain on scene.
