Police investigate as deadly highway claims another victim

POLICE will prepare a report for the Coroner after the death of a man in a car crash at Eungai Creek on Friday afternoon.

About 2.15pm, emergency services were called to the scene on the Pacific Highway south of Macksville.

Investigators believe that two cars crashed at the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Allgomera Road.

The sole occupant of one of the cars, a 78-year-old man, died at the scene.

Four occupants of the second car were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene has been established and investigations into the crash continue by officers attached to the Mid North Coast Local Area Command.

The Pacific Highway was closed for several hours during the examination of the crash scene and did not reopen until 7pm.
